How are geographic regions defined and why might definitions vary? In this investigation, students learn about the geographic concept of regions and consider different perspectives about how the Middle East is defined as a region. Students consider the central question Which countries should be included in the Middle East? and write an argument to National Geographic Maps revising the way their current Middle East wall map defines the region.
